Mrs. Mary Louise "Monkey" Hammac Martin passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at the age of 74 after a brief but intense fight against cancer. A native of Mobile, AL, she was a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, MS, where she was an active member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church and a founding member of a chorale group from the area. Mary loved to sing, and enjoyed traveling with the group, performing in churches along the coast and even as far away as Europe. She had a laugh and a joyous personality that were contagious,...

Mrs. Mary Louise "Monkey" Hammac Martin passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at the age of 74 after a brief but intense fight against cancer. A native of Mobile, AL, she was a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, MS, where she was an active member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church and a founding member of a chorale group from the area. Mary loved to sing, and enjoyed traveling with the group, performing in churches along the coast and even as far away as Europe. She had a laugh and a joyous personality that were contagious, making people smile everywhere she went. Mary was a true patriot and supportive of all branches of the military, so much so, that she dedicated the majority of her professional life to civil service as a budget analyst for the United States Air Force. At the height of her career, she was the senior budget analyst responsible for the entirety of Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. She was blessed with 25 wonderful years of marriage to her husband William Francis "Bill" Martin, who passed away in March of 1991. Bill dedicated his professional life to service with the United States Air Force as well. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Otha Hammac, Sr. and Emily Winstanley Hammac and her sister, Gertrude Hammac Powers. She is survived by her son, Bernie (Karen) Martin, her brother, Otha "Sonny" Hammac, Jr., several nieces, nephews, countless cousins and a multitude of friends. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile, AL on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
